Travel Requirements

Do I need a visa to enter Morocco?
Citizens of the US, Canada, Australia, the UK, New Zealand, Japan, China, Malaysia, Singapore, and the EU can visit Morocco visa-free for up to 90 days. For other nationalities, check with the Moroccan Embassy. Ensure your passport has at least 6 months of validity from your return date.

Do I need travel insurance?
While not mandatory, travel insurance is highly recommended. Choose a comprehensive plan covering cancellations, delays, medical emergencies, and baggage issues.

Do I need vaccinations?
No specific vaccinations are required. Consult your local health center to ensure your routine vaccinations are up to date and get advice on any Morocco-specific recommendations

  • Is Morocco safe to travel?
    Yes, Morocco is one of the most stable countries in North Africa. Petty crimes like scams or pickpocketing can occur, so stay alert in crowded areas. The hospitality of the Moroccan people will make you feel welcome and secure.

    Is it safe for women to travel alone?
    Morocco is generally safe for solo female travelers. To minimize unwanted attention:

    • Dress modestly (avoid short skirts and tight clothing).

      There’s no need to wear a scarf or veil unless visiting conservative areas.
  • Should I bring Moroccan currency?
    No, the Moroccan Dirham is a closed currency. Exchange money or use ATMs upon arrival for the best rates. ATMs are widely available and usually offer competitive exchange rates.

    Are credit/debit cards accepted?
    Cards are accepted at hotels, high-end restaurants, and large stores. Carry cash for smaller shops, markets, and rural areas.

    Can I exchange all major currencies in Morocco?
    USD, CAD, EUR, and GBP are widely accepted for exchange. AUD and NZD are not. Plan accordingly if bringing cash.

What type of clothing is appropriate?
You can relax and wear whatever is familiar and comfortable on the street at home. Morocco is very tolerant and welcoming to visitors, you’re not expected to act or look like a Moroccan. Longer shorts and shirts are fine for men. For women, bringing a scarf to cover bare shoulders and arms in rural villages is a good idea.
